'59 Corvette Kit Car
Not Your Dad”s ’59 Corvette
This is a kit car that was originally built by Vette-Rod and is registered as a 1959 Corvette antique car in Florida. The kit was delivered in June, 2000 but was in construction for three years and has not been driven much since. The powerplant is a 1994 LT1 Corvette small-block V8 connected to a ZF type, S-640 Six-speed transmission. The engine is fitted with a 4-barrel Holley carburetor. The frame is a race-car frame and the steering is rack and pinion steering. It has front and rear coil suspension systems and front and rear disk brakes. The tires are steel belted radials mounted on 17 inch wheels.
The rear deck was compressed to accommodate the large wheels, so there is no room for a Corvette convertible top to fit into the rear deck. I have constructed a removable T-top for the car but it needs further modification.
