This kit shape is also known as a Murci 2 or G28, which is the more accurate kit version of this car. These exterior fiberglass body panels (two layers of fiberglass cloth and resin that you could thickened if desired) are thin and need A Lot of work, they do not have Gel Coat so you would have to skim the panels with about $150 worth of bondo body filler (5 gallons) or filler putty, and sand them smooth or have any body shop do it (I could also tell you where to get the Chrome Wrap Material for $200, and how to easily apply it or have it done for about $200).
I could give you all the information including buying $200 wheel spacers and cutting and prepping the car with simple tools, a rachet set, an electric sawzall and electric 4 inch grinder ($30 each at any hardware store). There are many affordable cars to mount this on - which do not require stretching the car. You could have a replica kit car running in as little as a week FOR ONLY A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!
The cars that you could use (kit wheelbase is 104 inches), and don’t require a stretch, are 2001-2005 Dodge Stratus Coupe or 1995-2000 Dodge Avenger (pictured in the first pics, both of these offer V-6 engines and sportier interiors) or 1995-2006 Chrysler Sebring Coupe (also comes in optional V-6, but NOT the 4 door Sebring Sedan since it has a much larger wheelbase) and any Dodge/Plymouth Neon (4 cyl, but if you use a Neon SRT-4, it would be turbo with 240HP).
The Ideal car would probably be a 1996-2006 Sebring Convertible (pictured in the last pics, the wheelbase is only 2 inches longer and it actually adds to the look, it comes in optional V-6 and also eliminates the need to cut and move the windshield forward, which allows the windows to be functional, as well as the wipers, side view mirrors, and convertible top!).
Although I have never seen one built on these, according to their wheelbases, you could possibly use a 1995-2005 Chevy Cavalier/Pontiac Sunbird, 1994-1998 Mitsubishi Galant, 1995-2005 Honda Civic (coupe and sedan only, not hatchback) and 1998-2001 Acura GS Sedan. You could also use the panels on a stretched Fiero or MR2 or Porche, but that would be more difficult and expensive. It can also be used on F-body cars (Camaro/Firebird) with optional V8, but the wheelbase is 3 inches shorter and the rear seats are further back (I have pics if anyone is interested).
