Mid - Engine Chassis for Marauder (?) Kit Car
Hello . Up for sale is a well constructed , built out chassis believed to be for a Marauder Can Am kit , McLaren , Lola etc.. Built over a period of approx. 8 years , then dry stored for 20 some more . Build is photo - documented in 2 albums , will include . Wheelbase is 102 " , rear track 72 " , front track 70 " , rear flange - to - flange 58 ' front 63 " , overall length 162" , overall width 76 " , overall height 38 " Drivetrain is a Chevrolet 350 , motor # 3970010 , good high nickel block. fitted with a M12 Engineering adaptor and performance clutch for the modified Corvair transaxle / driveaxles .Hydraulic throwout fitted . Cannot find a spec sheet on the motor build , but it is a typical mid- budget performance rebuild . High compression , performance cam (Crower?)sounds to me like a .500- ish lift , head studs , Holley 750 dp on an Edelbrock Victor , jr manifold. Open headers turn straight up . No fancy valvetrain parts . Est 400 HP. I carefully brought the motor back to life , removed the headers to be sure exhaust was clear , removed distributor and drill - primed w/ v/c off until oil showed . Cleaned and set points , verified spark , poured a bit of fuel down the carb and it fired right off ! Currently running off a small gas can via the vehicle's electric fuel pump . Ive only run it a few times for 30 sec. to 1 min or so . REVS UP QUICK ! SOUNDS AWESOME ! SHOOTS FLAMES ! Coolant lines need to be connected and the system filled . Mustang II front , period Cragar (?) wheels covered in Turtle Wax for storage , would clean up fairly well 15 x 10 rear , 14 x 6 front . the aluminum side pods are really well built and VERY strong . Look like race / aviation quality build . Pods hold the 2 fuel cells at their rears . Nice custom fabbed pedal assembly . All hydraulic lines run , just need masters . To be finished , this chassis will need brake and clutch masters , some finish wiring , rubber steering coupler disc , seats mounted and safety harnesses added . Paint and finishes are a bit aged / chipped / worn so don't expect perfection . Gauges are old and cheap . I've heard Marauder still exists , I sent a letter as all I have is an address but have had no response . This chassis could likely take a variety of bodies in the right hands , or make the Grandaddy of all Go - Karts !
