Rare Aztec 7 with all aluminum V8 -- NEW PRICE!--
Near complete Aztec 7 kit car for sale.
This cars are very unique and hard to find in this condition even rarer is the fact that it is not powered by a VW motor. Instead it has a all aluminum Buick 215 aluminum small block V-8, connected to the VW transaxle with adapter plate. These motors were rated at between 185-200 hp depending on model year.
As you can see from the pictures the paint job is beautiful and looks even better in person. There are a few scrapes from being garaged for so many years.
The car is built on a IRS type one VW chassis with tubular steel frame running around the perimeter and back into the engine compartment. There is a steel cross beam that also runs just under the dash and supports a production car style tilt steering column. The back of the car is unique in that it first pulls backward then tips for easy engine access.
The pan is in excellent condition, no rust or holes that I can see. There are two fiberglass high back bucket seats but they are not padded or covered. The dash is not in the car but the bolts to attach it are in place so its just a simple matter of bolting it in. There are no gauges. The car does seem to be wired but I am not sure what works and what doesn't.The interior parts are all there. There are door latches but they are not installed. I don't really think much if anything but time would be required to complete this car. I was told the motor ran but I have not tried to start it yet. It turns over freely. The tires are in excellent condition they are not cracked but they are almost 10 years old I would suggest they be replaced. The brakes work. The radiator is already installed and plumbed as is the gas tank.
There is an extra set of doors that come with it. Perfect to cut down to make summer doors so the T-top would be open.
Since the car was never completed or on the road it is not registered. The original VW vin number is no longer in the California DMV system. The car would have to be registered as newly constructed specially constructed vehicle.
I would really like to keep it but because of the design of the doors it just to hard for me to get in and out of it.
I have been asked if I would consider removing the Buick motor and reducing the price. I am willing to do that and drop the price to $3600.00 without the motor and adapter if your interest is to go back to VW.
$4000.00 as is
or
$3600.00 without Buick motor and adapter.
