The Wombat is a steel framed, fiberglass body kit for the reliable, VW Type 1 Full Length chassis. The appearance is reminiscent of Military and Off Road vehicles. With a VW chassis the car can actually perform well off road, it is not just a looker. Did you know that there is a class in the Baja 1000 off road race for Stock VW Beetles?
This body kit is no Dune Buggy. Dune buggies don't have the Jig Welded Steel Tube frame that supports the Wombat body, and bolts to the VW chassis mount points. The Top Support Frame, Doors, Tire Rack and Luggage rack all mount to the steel frame, minimizing stress to the fiberglass. Dune Buggies have a very high side sill, making entry a high leg raise over the sill, stepping on the seat you are going to be sitting in, then sliding everything forward.The Wombat's low door sills and optional hard doors make stepping in and out no harder than getting in or out of a regular VW Beetle.
This kit can be finished to be a functional use vehicle or a deluxe, optioned out show car. There are kits to put a wide range of powerplants to the VW chassis, so your powertrain choices range from Stock VW to Performance Turbo FI VW, inline water cooled 4 cylinder, Subaru, Mazda Rotary, Corvair, Rabbit diesel/bio-diesel. Several have been constructed with Fully Electric Power.

The kit was never delivered so the factory can handle the shipping, it is surprisingly reasonable.
They can hook you up with a chassis, too, or even finish it turnkey minus or turnkey.
