F@RRARI 355 GTS
This is a 1987 5spd. Pontiac Fiero; Fer@ri 355 replica. eBay won’t allow me to mention the manufacturer by name or else the auction will be taken off-line. But I would hope you can guess what it is by the “Prancing Horse“… E-mail me if you want pics of the real car for comparison. I have been painlessly working on it for a few years but my recent racing team efforts and possibility of having to move out of state have made me reconsider and need to downsize. This is my second and most favorite kit car but I have to let it go. There is nothing I cant stand more than a cheap looking Replica so I have been trying to make this car as close to the original as possible. I have put almost $19,000.00 into it so far and I do have the title and all receipts and instruction manuals. I will also include the magazine articles from the Fer@ri magazine that I was using as references. Here is a list of everything I have done to it...
Completed parts...
1987 Fiero chassis has been lengthened 6" and has a clean title.
North coast exotics body kit is 90% installed. The only thing left to mount is the rear trunk lid. It still needs hinges. The body is almost ready for paint. there is a few areas that need some touchup and it would be ready.
The original body was for a spyder convertible. This one has been converted to a GTS (the hard top convertible) by a local auto body man. It has two holes and wiring conduit for 6" speakers to be installed in the top above the headrests. There is currently no Targa for it. I was going to make a small soft top piece to fit the opening using some bikini top pieces from a jeep catalogue.
It has a fully upgraded and new racing suspension from Held motor sports. The rear is a Coil over strut conversion that is 4" wider and the front is a 2" wider coil over. Both the front and rear have new or replaced control arms, bushings, shocks, coils and a new OEM steering stabilizer.
I have a real set of emblems that come with the car. It includes the nose badge, front grill prancing horse, back tail prancing horse, rear deck lid name badge, back bumper 355 Spyder emblem and two side door designer name plates. I also have a fitted car cover from the real car. See pictures.
The front headlights x4, fog/driving lights and blinkers are installed. they do still need to be wired though. I have a set of Corvette back tail light covers that match this car but they are not installed yet.
Included parts not installed yet...
Set of 4 Mags. These are ROH International wheels that match the original perfectly. the rear is a 8.5x17 with Sumitomo 245/45zR17 tires and the fronts are 7.5x17 with Sumitomo 215/45zR17 tires. these are 150+ rated DOT approved racing tires like on the real car.
I have multiple wiring harnesses. All that you should need to complete the electrical system. Painless 18 circuit full car GM wiring harness, Painless fiberglass grounding kit, Painless gauge wiring kit, Fuel pump relay kit, 2 door elec. window kit and a shaved door handle kit with door poppers and remotes for remote door entry/opening.
The car comes with a Chevy 4.3 liter Vortec v6. This motor has been built by a professional race engine shop. It has about 5K in parts and labor added to it and I was told it will easily do 300hp now with a potential of 500hp with an added supercharger later. I do have the build sheet for the motor that explains all that was done.
I also have the remote Maxi-Cool oil cooler, a balanced and re-machined flywheel and a brand new Centerforce dual friction Clutch.
The motor will include with it the conversion kit that I bought from Fiero Conversions in Canada. It will install the new motor in the fiero.
Parts still needed to complete...
Basically the wheels need rebuilt stock brakes with spacers to fit the new wheels and new width of the car OR new Willwood 12"diskbrake kit with new enlarged spindles that match the width of the car and rotors that match the new wheel bolt patterns(Recommended)
the back trunk lid has not been installed yet because the motor needs to be installed first. The Fiero motor and tranny had to be tossed due to mechanical problems so the only thing needed to complete the motor installation is a Fiero 5spd. manual trany from a junk yard or eBay auction. my kit includes the motor, wiring harnesses and conversion kits so the motor should go in quite easily once a tranny is found.
An interior kit. I do have all the wiring components but no interior kit. All that is included is the original Fiero dash and steering wheel as well as the stock seats. any other changes are the buyers responsibility
The rear glass for the custom built top needs to be fabricated or used off of another car. MR2 maybe?. I do have templates made for the two side pieces of glass.
